Vortigern and Rowena
Rowena, beautiful daughter of the Anglo-Saxon leader Hengest, entrances (and gets drunk) the warlord Vortigern, with whom Hengest is negotiating to obtain more land. Vortigern agrees to any terms set by Hengest as long as he may take Rowena as his second wife. Hengest thus demands, and is given, the kingdom of Kent
