Helene Weigel, German actress with Berliner Ensemble
Helene Weigel (1900-1971), German actress, second wife of the playwright Bertolt Brecht. She joined the Communist Party in 1930, and became Artistic Director of the Berliner Ensemble after her husband's death in 1956. She created the role of Mother Courage in Brecht's play of the same name
