Ian Douglas Smith (1919-2007), best known as the Prime Minister of the British self-governing colony of Southern Rhodesia. He unilaterally declared independence from the UK in November 1965, serving as the first Prime Minister of Rhodesia from that date until June 1979, during white minority rule
