A Metropolitan Police officer, PC Vincent, in the mid-Victorian period, posing for his photograph in a studio. He is wearing the original Peeler's swallowtail jacket, which was worn between 1829 and 1864. It had a 4 high collar concealing a 4 leather stock, to prevent strangulation and attacks from behind. He is holding the standard top hat in his hand
