Woman police officer (sergeant) posing in the recently updated Stanley uniform, 27 July 1931. A white shirt and tie were introduced, the jacket had four buttons and a matching material belt, the hat badge became smaller, the skirt became a little shorter, and shoes replaced boots (although in this picture boots are worn). The overall effect was greater comfort, practicality and smartness
