Southern pigfish, Congiopodus leucopaecilus
This fish specimen was collected by Ross expedition to Antarctica with HMS Erebus and Terror, 1839-1843. Antarctic expeditions such as Ross studied the marine life throughout the journey, not just in Antarctica. Ross expedition discovered the southern pigfish, a new fish species found in the waters around Australia and New Zealand
