Some Titanic officers lost in disaster
Photograph by AJF Bond of Bodmin of six officers of RMS Olympic taken on the bridge of the ship on the ship's maiden voyage. Some of the men later became crew of the Olympic's sister ship, RMS Titanic, and four were lost when Titanic sank in April 1912. The lost officers were (sitting l to r) Captain Edward J Smith and surgeon Dr William O'Loughlin; (standing far left) First Officer William McMaster Murdoch and (standing second from left) Purser Hugh McElroy (spelt here McIlroy). Standing far right is Officer Robert Hume who was not on the Titanic. Standing second from right is Purser Claude Lancaster
