Some Barnardo's Emigrants
A promotional picture showing some of the children from Barnardo's homes destined to emigrate to new lives overseas. In 1872, Thomas Barnardo's children's homes began sending children to Canada. From the 1880s, a larger scale scheme began after Barnardo visited Canada. Emigration was extended to Australia in 1921
