Birmingham Union Cottage Homes, Marston Green, Warwickshire
Three girls stand on the driveway of one of the children's cottage homes at Marston Green in Warwickshire, to the east of Birmingham. The homes were opened by the Birmingham Poor Law Authorities in 1879 to house over 400 pauper children away from the workhouse. As well as the cottages, each one housing up to 30 children, there was a school, infirmary, swimming baths, workshops and a farm
