The Boys Band at the Walsall and West Bromwich District School on Pennyhill Lane, Wigmore. They are in uniform, holding their instruments on the steps of the building. The bandmaster can be seen in the centre towards the rear. The name of the school can be seen on the bass drum at the back. The school opened in 1870 to house workhouse children from the two unions
