Force feeding a suffragette (cartoon)
A cartoon depicting a suffragette being force fed in a prison cell. Two men, a prison warder and a doctor, hold the woman down with the help of a large weight (one hundredweight). The doctor pours soup into her mouth through a large funnel. The force feeding of suffragettes on hunger strike ended in 1913 with the passing of the Cat and Mouse Act, officially known as the Prisoners (Temporary Discharge for Ill Health) Act
