Industrial School, Cockermouth, Cumbria
The Cumberland County Industrial School on Lorton Road, Cockermouth, Cumbria, was opened in 1881 to hold 150 boys. Industrial Schools housed children aged 7-15 placed there by magistrates for a variety of reasons such as vagrancy, begging, disrupting schools, or living with prostitutes
