Inkerman Barracks, Woking, Surrey
A view of the entrance to Inkerman Barracks, Woking, Surrey. The buildings were originally opened in 1860 as an invalid prison for convicts not fit enough to be sent to Dartmoor. An adjacent female prison built by inmate labour opened in 1869. The prison was taken over by the army in around 1892 and renamed Inkerman Barracks after the Crimean War battle of that name
