Islington Workhouse, North London
Aerial view of the Islington parish workhouse, opened in 1870 on St John's Road in Islington, North London. Designed by RH Burden, it could house more than 1000 inmates. The main building was three storeys high and surmounted by a clock tower. The site was later known as Hillside
