Interior of one of the ambulances operated by London's Metropolitan Asylums Board in around 1930, showing a patient lying on a bed and a nurse sitting at his side. At that date, the MAB was the largest user of civil ambulance services in the world with a fleet of 150 vehicles. During 1930, 100, 000 patients were carried a million miles and a further quarter of a million miles were traversed with goods
