Mile End Old Town Workhouse, East London
Previously part of the Stepney Union, Mile End Old Town in East London became an independent Poor Law Hamlet in 1857. The following year, work began on its new workhouse located on Bancroft Road, designed by William Dobson in Domestic Tudor style. This is a view of the main frontage of the building
