A view of the Newtown and Llanidloes Union Workhouse at Caersws, Montgomeryshire (now Powys), Wales. The building, designed by Thomas Penson of Oswestry, opened in 1840. It later became Llys Maldwyn Hospital, first providing care for children and then for patients with learning difficulties
