The Training Ship Clio, moored off Bangor in the Menai Straits, North Wales, was established in 1877 by the City of Chester and Border Counties Training Ship Society. It provided training in seamanship for destitute and poor respectable boys aged 12-15, many of whom went on to join one of the naval services
