Ali ibn Hammud al-Nasir (d. 1018). Sixth caliph of the Caliphate of Cordoba (1016-1018). He was appointed governor of Ceuta by Caliph Sulayman al-Musta'in. Ali ibn Hammud conspired against the Caliph Sulayman al-Musta'in and, after gaining entry into Cordoba, was proclaimed Caliph on 1 July 1016. He ordered Sulayman, his father and brother to be imprisoned and killed.... Seized Sulayman and ordered behead him. Engraving by Serra Pausas. Glorias Espanolas (Glories of Spain). Volume II.
