Banditry. Catalonia. Rescue of Ramoneda (July

Miquel Ramoneda, a young man of twenty-two, was the owner of a factory in the village of Sant Quinti de Mediona (province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain). On 17 July 1842, he was kidnapped by a group of criminals led by en Jaume and en Salat, known as Nas. Antoni Sabater, one of the people who accompanied Ramoneda, was in collusion with the assailants, mediating with the family to ask for a ransom. The authorities arrested all the relatives and friends of the bandits and Sabater confessed. They were finally found in Mas Pages. The mosso Pere Vidal was killed in the action during a fight.
