Charlemagne (742-814). King of the Franks (768-814) the Lombards (774-814) and emperor of the Romans (800-814). : Reliquary bust. It was donated around 1349 by Charles IV and contains a piece of Charlemagne's skull. Made from silver and gold decorated with antique gems and cameos by an unknown German goldsmith. Aachen Treasury Cathedral. Germany
