History of Spain. Catalonia. First Carlist War (1833-1840). Anti-clerical riots of 1835. Revolts against the religious orders that took place as a result of their support for the Carlist side. Barcelona. After the anticlerical riots, the bullangas and the assassination of General Bassa in 1835, the city of Barcelona seized a state of anarchy.
