First World War (1914-1918). Russian army uniform cap with a home guard cockade. Men fit for service were conscripted into the Russian army at the beginning of the mobilisation in the summer of 1914. The conscripted home guards were organized into companies and battalions separately from other units. Before receiving full equipment and uniforms, they were endowed only with a rifle and a cap with Russian Army and home guard badges. Latvian War Museum. Riga. Latvia
