This photograph was taken when the balloon was situated over Hyde Park and is the view observed when looking in the direction of south east. Hyde Park is in the foreground with Park Lane on the left and Rotten Row on the right. A little further up the picture is Hyde Park Corner with Piccadilly running out towards the left of the photograph. The next large open space is Green Park with Constitution Hill, Buckingham Palace Garden and St James Park. Further in the distance is Westminster and the Thames will be observed stretching from the Houses of Parliament on the left to Victoria on the right.
