The first non-stop round-the-world flight in 1949
One of four refuelling contacts made on the first non-stop round-the-world flight in 1949, the Boeing B-50, Lucky Lady II, takes on fuel from a Boeing KB-29M. Lucky Lady II was refuelled with the early hose system in which the KB-29 tankers, flying above the receiver, trailed a hose which was caught by a grapnel streamed by the receiver and winched into the latter aircraft
