American troops training with tanks, France, WW1

American troops of the 107th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, training with tanks near Beauquesne, Somme, northern France, during the First World War. The tanks would charge an imaginary enemy trench first, using machine guns as they approached the parapet of the trench. The infantry would then advance, clean out the rest of the trench, and wait for the tanks to advance ahead of them to the next line of trenches
