Arch of Ctesiphon, Mesopotamia, WW1
The Arch of Ctesiphon (Taq-i Kisra), near the River Tigris in Mesopotamia (now Iraq) during the First World War. The Battle of Ctesiphon (22-24 November 1915) was followed by General Townshend's retirement to Kut al Amara. The British reached Ctesiphon again on 7 March 1917
