British Officers in Vladivostok 1919
Staff Officers of the British Military Mission to Siberia, at their headquarters in Vladivostok. The head of the military Mission, Major General Alfred Knox, is to the centre left of the picture (in Russian fur hat) with his Chief of Staff on his left (centre middle). The British deployed 1500 troops to Siberia, made up of the 9th Battalion Hampshire Regiment and 25th Battalion Middlesex Regiment. They formed part of the multi-national Allied Intervention Force supporting the anti-Bolshevik White army in the Russian Civil War
