Captured German soldiers during Battle of the Bulge
Two captured German members of the commando unit, the Stielau unit (right) Rolf Meyer and (left) Gunther Schilz, from the command of Otto Skorzeny. They had been caught while wearing American uniforms, a deliberate tactic intended to create confusion behind Allied lines. Found guilty of espionage under the terms of the Hague Convention of 1907, these two and another were executed by firing squad at Henri-Chapelle on 23 December 1944
