Christmas truce 1914
A group of British soldiers, wrapped up against the cold weather, are pictured constructing a hurdle and mud breastwork above their trench, in a turnip field in Rue de Bois, unhampered by the German enemy who are positioned just a few metres away and have kindly decided to leave them alone for the day since it's Christmas. One of the examples of the famous Christmas truce of December 1914 which saw British and French soldiers fraternising at various points along the line on the Western Front during World War I
