Czernowitz 1917
German Pioneers (engineers) construct a pontoon bridge across the River Pruth at Czernowitz (modern day Chernivtsi in western Ukraine). The bridge in the background had been blown up by retreating Russians before the city was captured by advancing German forces on 3 August 1917
