General Sir Harry Chauvel (1865-1945) of the Australian Imperial Force, escorted by a squadron of the 2nd Light Horse Regiment as bodyguard, riding through Damascus on horseback during the First World War. They were followed by units representing his three Cavalry Divisions, including men from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India and France
