Major James Thomas Byford McCudden (1895-1918), officer and pilot in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. He received more medals for gallantry than any other British airman serving in the First World War, including the VC, DSO, MC and Croix de Guerre. Seen here in RFC uniform
