The bodies of two American soldiers (with a medics hat between them) lie semi-buried in the snow, two of the eighty-four victims of the Malmedy Massacre, in which the American prisoners of war were murdered by their S.S. captors, during the German counter-offensive in the Ardennes area of Belgium which became known as the Battle of the Bulge
