Masaryk arrives in Prague 1918
Thomas Masaryk, the philosopher and politician who did much to persuade the world that Czechoslovakia should gain independence following the end of World War I, arrives in Prague. Recognised by the Allies as the head of the provisional Czechoslovak government, he was duly elected as the first president of Czechoslovakia in 1920
