Portrait bust of T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia)

Portrait bronze bust of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence (aka Lawrence of Arabia, 1888-1935), British Army officer best known for his liaison role during the Arab Revolt against Ottoman Turkish rule of 1916-1918. It was made in 1926 by Eric Kennington, an official war artist in both World Wars. He was a friend of Lawrence's, and was one of the pall bearers at his funeral. Seen here resting on a stone shelf bearing Lawrence's dates
