Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence (aka Lawrence of Arabia, 1888-1935), British Army officer best known for his liaison role during the Arab Revolt against Ottoman Turkish rule of 1916-1918. Seen here in dark trousers and shirt at Miranshah (Miran Shah), then in India, now in Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan, where he was stationed at an RAF base under the name of Colonel T E Shaw
