Temporary bridge at Zeebrugge, Belgium, WW1

The temporary bridge across the gap in the viaduct at the landward end of the mile-long Zeebrugge Mole, at the sea port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, during the First World War. The gap was made during the Zeebrugge Raid of 23 April 1918, when the British submarine HMS C3, filled with explosives, was blown up to help neutralise the port, which was used as a base by the German navy
