Workman in quarry hut, North Wales
A workman (Isaac Evans) in a quarry hut in North Wales, sitting by the fire with a teapot keeping warm in front. A month or two after this picture was taken, the quarryman died of silicosis, a respiratory disease caused by the silica dust in slate and other rocks, affecting most slate quarry workers in middle age. The quarry has been shut down
