Avril Coleridge-Taylor. Avril Coleridge-Taylor (1903-1998) British-born conductor and composer. Mixed race daughter of composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. She made her debut as a conductor at the Royal Albert Hall in 1933. She composed a Ceremonial March to celebrate Ghana's independence in 1957
