Edric Connor on BBC television in Variety in Sepia with The George Williams Choir. Edric Connor (1913-1968) Trinidadian folk singer and actor who settled in Britain in 1944. A popular BBC radio personality in the 1940s he was also a television pioneer when the BBC resumed its service in 1946 at Alexandra Palace. Made many films including Cry, the Beloved Country, Moby Dick and The Vikings. First black actor to appear at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford in 1958 when he played Gower in Pericles
