Scouts during Wartime
Award for trapped Scout. Leonard Golder, 15 years old Scout of the 13th Southwark Troop, photographed with his nurse at the home at Southborough, Kent, where he is recovering. He has just been awarded the Cornwell Badge, the highest Scout decoration for fortitude. After dealing with a number of incendiary bombs, he was trapped head downwards for 18 hours in a bombed shelter. Fully conscious, he was buried under debris and a beam crushed his leg, which had to be amputated. His parents and other members of his family were killed in the shelter
