Scouts during Wartime

Decorations for Scout Heroes of Blitz. Scoutmaster Douglas Vosper of the 2nd Saltash (Cornwall) Troop formed a fire fighting unit consisting of 4 scouts. In one of the Blitz on Plymouth they went into action, the result being that one was killed, two were injured, which left only for Vosper to carry on. They have all been decorated for their bravery. Mr J.M. St Aubyn, Scout Commissioner for East Cornwall, presenting the awards. Left to right are Patrol Leader Sidney Cummins (Silver Cross), Mrs Cummins (Bronze Cross awarded posthumously to her son Donald), Patrol Leader Bernard Doidge (Silver Cross) and Douglas Vosper (Bronze Cross)
