Scouts during Wartime
Plymouth Scout's Gallantry gets V.C. Rover Scout Patrick McLaughlin receiving the Scouts Silver Cross from the Deputy Lord Mayor of Plymouth (Alderman W.J.W. Modley), for gallantry in a Plymouth Blitz. McLaughlin and a Marine went into a blazing church to save the church treasures. The Marine was severely injured and was dragged out by McLaughlin, who then returned to the burning building. The Marine later died, Patrick McLaughlin received severe injuries
