Scouts during Wartime
The first demonstration of the Emergency River Service was given on the Thames today (Sunday) with Sea Scouts and nurses among those taking part. In time of war, the Service would operate along the busiest 30 miles of the River, taking part in ambulance work, casualty clearing and similar activities. Steel helmeted nurses, ambulance men and volunteers carrying ashore a casualty from the pleasure steamer Queen Elizabeth at Cadogan Pier, Chelsea. The steamer has been adapted for carrying casualties in time of war
