This photograph shows Prince Regent Ludwig of Bavaria, later King Ludwig III of Bavaria (center), in the procession of the Knights of St. George at the 23rd Main Festival of the Order of St. George in Munich. The Order of St. George was the most famous among the chivalric orders, whose namesake was Saint George. The order was founded in the 12th century at the time of the Crusades.
