The Pashtun leader of the independence movement of Abdul Ghaffar Khan with Islamic Red Shirts in the Northwest border province of India. The Red Shirts under Ghaffar Khan were in contact with Mahatma Gandhi, however they had their own movement for independence from colonial rule. They attempted non-violently to persuade the British military to desert in the commune of Peshawar
