Adolf Hitler during a rally on the Ehrenbreitstein near Koblenz on the Saartreue ( loyalty to the Saar'). In 1935 a referendum was held for the Saar ( Saar region ) mandated area concerning the issue of whether to be admitted to the German Reich. As part of the Treaty of Versailles, the Saar region had been separated from the German Empire and then passed into French administration
