Hitler and Kluge after the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944, in which Kluge was also involved and because of which he took his own life at Verdun in France after being relieved of all offices. In his farewell letter, Kluge affirmed his loyalty to Hitler, but advised the latter to end the hopeless war
