On 4 September 1940 Adolf Hitler handed the Marshal baton in the presence of Goering in the New Reich Chancellery in Berlin after the successful campaign in France to the appointed General Field Marshals of the Air Force from left: Erhard Milch, Hugo Sperrle, Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goering and Albert Kesselring
